My recent purchases from Amazon – the one and only megastore online – have been a waffle fry cutter, and a feet callus reducer. The waffle cutter has been working miracles in the kitchen and has kept the compliments coming my way like never before. And the callus reducer was for my diabetic father – he has diabetic neuropathy and thus needs to take extra care of his feet. He has a frequent problem of calluses and corns and he needs corn caps and callus reducers quite often. I thought of using the subscribe and save option and have found it immensely helpful.
But what I am looking for these days is something for sleep disorder.
This is a problem that has been plaguing me quite a while now – I feel extremely sleepy at the end of the day. But the moment my head will touch the pillow, instead of catching a few zzzzzzs, I am lying wide awake. Sometimes I catch a few minutes of sleep before jerking awake. It has started affecting my sister who sleeps in the same room.
So my first priority is to get myself diagnosed for this problem – I need to figure out if what I am suffering is indeed some kind of disorder. The next step will be to get to the doctor and get myself thoroughly checked. But even before that I need to do up some primary studying on the different types of sleep related disorders.
So far, I have come across three such issues:
In this problem, the person suffering from insomnia will never be able to sleep at night or even during the day. The person literally goes without sleep for days together – but will naturally have to carry out his or her regular duties. What happens therefore is that due to sleep deprivation, the person gets tired, and thus irritable. Moreover, the person is also mentally and physically exhausted – this affects the focus and ability to go on normally.
Restless Leg Syndrome:
I am quite confident that this is an issue I do have. What is meant by a restless leg?
Well, what happens is that whenever you go to bed, you will find a strange sensation in your leg. This could be a tingling, throbbing pain, or even an itch that you just cannot help. Naturally, with your leg feeling the way it does, you can never focus on sleep. I have lain awake at nights with this problem – without knowing that it was not some freak that I was suffering from. It is a condition that millions of people share with me.
This is another problem found quite frequently in people. What happens is that when you’re asleep, the muscles in your throat relax way too much. So this blocks the airway. And the brain, unable to give instructions for the blood to circulate through your body, sends a signal to these muscles. This signal kick starts your breathing again and you either wake up, or have fitful sleep.
There are I am sure, other problems regarding sleep that I am yet to dig up on – but once I do, I shall surely share it with you…because like me, if you too are suffering from any form of sleep related disorder, you have to act now!
